Simone Minn // “Living Normally” Presentation Concerts

Simone Minn has finished her full-length debut album, “living normally” (“normaalselt elama”), set for release on June 5!

Don’t let the title mislead you — this is anything but a conventional record. The album challenges lifestyles and expectations labelled “normal” (by someone, apparently?) from between, behind, and beyond the lines.

“normaalselt elama” invites listeners to embrace confusion, blur boundaries, feel everything all at once, laugh at life, cry in the middle of a bus station, and scream at the top of their lungs across poppy fields.

As for the release shows, it can be said that they have absolutely no intention of being like the album — and at the same time, they are precisely like the album.

Simone Minn has primarily existed as a one-woman band defined by a touch of madness, beautiful melodies, unusual harmonic twists, and quite a few words. While creating the debut album, however, the one-woman band has grown into a slightly wider circle of colourful musicians whose creative contributions can be heard on nearly every track.

Placing Simone’s music neatly into a single genre box has proven to be quite a challenge. One might find similarities with the songs of Vaiko Eplik, while modest comparisons could also be drawn to The Beatles, Orelipoiss, Syd Barrett, or dodie. Altogether, the band’s music lives somewhere between alternative indie and psych-folk.
