7 July 2025 at 19:00 in the Concert and Theatre Hall of Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre
Estonian National Male Choir, conductor Mikk Üleoja
Musta Lammas (Finland), conductor Ida Olsonen
Program: Tormis, Bonato and Marttila, Jalkanen, improvisations, and more
The concert will feature two very different choirs. The Estonian National Male Choir, an unique professional male choir that is part of Estonia’s musical DNA, presents repertoire composed for male voices in its full powerful palette. The program includes works by Veljo Tormis—deeply rooted in Estonian identity—and contemporary music that is a special focus for the choir.
Musta Lammas is an unconventional and unusual choir whose name ("Black Sheep") tells this group enriches the choral landscape with charm and a refreshing lack of pretension. Their program includes original compositions created specifically for them, arrangements of music that resonates with the choir, and improvisations they aptly call “vocal paintings.”
